Use students as decoys. Have them pretend to be drunk, stagger down the side walk, then bust the criminals in the act using undercover cops. Get the word out that the cops are tough and will catch them. [about 15 years ago]
Use unidentified police to "rough" up the criminals caught in the act. Put fear in future criminals that you really don't know which people are actually cops. [about 15 years ago]
Make the campus safer by making bigger examples of the offenders. Educate all freshmen about the safety concerns...but also educate potential future offenders about the "time" they will pay for the "crime" [about 15 years ago]
More lighting is always good. Sober escorts will make a huge impact. Maybe carrying a baseball bat might help as well. [about 15 years ago]
I like the DNA sampling idea as a deterent to keep criminals from committing more crimes. The difficult part will be getting "everyone" to give a sample. [about 15 years ago]
Create a buddy system...sort of like a DD. Ensure any drunk person has a sober person to walk as an escort. Perhaps the Campus could pay a fee for the sober buddy to incent them to stay sober and be the protector. [about 15 years ago]
