I'd start a biz that incorporates all my hobbies. It would be a multi-level jazz/blues/live music club that would also be a bbq joint that has great whiskey/scotch/bourbon & cigars. It's probably not the type of biz that contributes a whole lot to society, but it would be fun! [over 15 years ago]

The publishing world is very fickle. There are a lot of independent publishing sales groups that you could work with (your initial print-run may determine how seriously these groups take you). Google book search is a free service. Also, create a website/blog and participate in related blogs (with a link back to your site). Unless backed by millions of mkt dollars that labels throw at bands these days, the word is spread by an existing fan base. Treat these fans like friends. Create fan "badges" on networking sites that link back to your page. Offer discounts to those in your fan club or on your friends list. Write hand-written thank you letters to clubs in which you played mentioning how much you enjoyed playing their club. Network with other/similar local bands. Just a few ideas to get you started.
