Tags are great but you browse to a tag. Organizing tags solves this but then it brings you back to heirarchies or ontologies. Some automation using semantic approaches would help

Tags with search are superior to heirarchy for finding items quickly. Also, unless you are familiar with the heirarchy, it is useless.
