How might we create a framework for funding scholarships for Leadership Buffalo for the economically disadvantaged?
We are not seeking full scholarships - more like 80% scholarships. The brainstorming session will remain open for 2 weeks. Then we will select the more attractive ideas and develop possible actions steps. The goal here is to actually implement the scholarships for the 2011 Class Experience. Please use the following guidelines for this session: 1. Strive for lots of ideas 2. Don't judge or criticize others' ideas 3. Build off others' ideas 4. Be wild and unusual Revisit as often as you like during the two week period. Review the ideas of others to come up with more novel suggestions. Thank you for your participation.

I certainly think all the ideas are wonderful. I think the scholarship comittee could certainly utilize these ideas and bring them to fruition. I for one would participate. We could also seek the participation of companies and organizations to sponsor a candidate that may have partnered or worked with banks, medical, etc. Especially when some send multiple employees.

Similar to #2, but request some of the local foundations (or corporations) to donate money. For example, could call it the Oshei Foundation scholarship.

Combining Ideas 1 & 3, as current and past LB members step up as a yearly sponsor, an amount can be determined per contributing member once the Scholarship Committee decides on the number of scholarships we aim to offer.

Solicit LB 10' volunteers to form a scholarship committee that will be responsible for creating a Scholarship Program Overview that outlines the purpose and amount of the scholarship, funding source(s), eligibility critera, etc. Based on provided feedback the committe will decide on which of the suggested ideas to implement and develop a plan. I would be happy to serve on the committee. I manage the scholarship program for People Inc. and can provide insight on IRS regulations, etc.

At the Values Luncheon, either sell split tickets or ask for donations that can be used for scholarships. Having past scholarship recipients at the event to 'share their story' on what LB meant to them may resonate further and encourage giving.

Much like on our taxes where you can add a contribution to the election fund or wildlife fund, have an option on our yearly dues where people could add a dollar (or $5, or what ever amount we/they chose)to go to the scholarship fund.

Have theme baskets contributed by each corp represented by LB and use those at the Values Luncheon to fund the scholarship(s); do 50/50 at Values Luncheon

Tuition + Dues = $3,880 x 80% = $3,104 to raise. We have 55 members = $56 +/- each.
