Such a business owner should be able to do both - at the outset, the owner will invariably be involved in operations, but as the business solidifies, and trustworthy people or partners are brought in, the owner will have the time and obligation to focus on the larger issues. The time comes from the trust in others to do what the owner may know best, and the obligation of the owner is to use that knowledge to best position the company in its particular marketplace.
