Find ways to retrofit existing vehicles to tune their gas consumption and alternate with electric batteries. Alternate fuels have a way to go yet, but mileage can be dramatically increased. Retrofitting is more conservation-minded than throwing away the old gas-guzzler to buy a new hybrid.
