Open Brainstorms

What should I do to start a business?

I am a college student with limited funds, and I would like to start a business with a group of friends. As far as talents go, I am really great with anything online, and I have great communication skills. My friends are very artistically inclined, and we have free access to a silk-screening machine (to print t-shirts with). How would one go about starting a T-Shirt business? Any thoughts would be really helpful.

As and when Canada goes for elections, you can design T shirts for contestants/parties

sadly 40billion is american only (i'm canadian), but i'll look into t-shirts for clients. as far as ebay goes, i don't think i'll go there. too much competition. i do have some good web skills though, meaning i could throw up a site for free and sell off that, while advertising with flyers, word of mouth, and online guerrilla marketing.

I would follow the advice of brainakshay - find a niche (high end) don't go near ebay - the big boys will eat you up and you are looking for a quality product - limited edition - ensure that your specific artwork is also high quality

How would I get the word out though. My advertising skills are a little weak. Maybe flyers at college? Any ideas on an ad campaign?

I guess Ebay would be a good place to start sales. Maybe make a website?
