Continuing oversight and support for both best environmental practices and technology are necessary through two generations of the population. Have to educate the children, too.

Ideas 5-6 will naturally occur once the infrastructure is in place, which is what 1-3 propose to accomplish.

Develop a website for farmers with provision for farmers asking questions and expert answering the same. Take ads for selling farming related consumable items on discount through this website. Also tell about plant pests and any recent outbreaks in the community. All this to be done in locally acceptable language (I am not sure if this is possible)

Use the local school computer labs to train under-employed residents in a variety of tech skills -- these labs sit empty after the kids go home. Grants are available to make this happen -- including some from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Once skills are in place, both employability and sustainability increase. Get wired -- get hired.

Improve waste disposal system- laying down drains, creating public dustbins. Couple it with dissemination of information on communicable infective diseases. These measures would improve the overall health of society. Villagers should pay atleast in part for the services as many a times "free" services are not utlized and are difficult to maintain in the long run

Allow rural village to communicate wirelessly with the large city 40Km away. Operate communciation device with renewable resource.

Create a system for collecting and re-using rain water to irrigate fields.
