Open Brainstorms

How do I market my website for time-based search for appointments and events?

I'm building a site that will let users perform time or calendar search: they can do a google-style search for appointments, shows, events, etc by visiting the site. Users would be able to find appointment availability for all kinds of services like mechanics, doctors, dentists, hair salons, etc. They would also be able to find timing/availability for other time based events like movies, shows, etc. How do I market and get the word out about the site?

I think you should keep it industry focused, or choose a core group of industries you like to focus on and focus on those key influencers in their industry, related hubs and channels (ex. firms who sell to dentist and doctors could use it to up-sell, mail order could work positioning your product as a lead generator and management solution and targeting trade shows in their industry.

Offer it to local news companies for their website. People will be able to get news alerts based on key words they are interested in (sports, politics, classifieds...) then the TV station can mention your software's name as they offer it to their audience.

Add voice recognition, so your hand-held device can just beep and then tell you outloud about the movie starting in 10 minutes, or the bus coming in an hour.

Team up with a company that creates GPS software and incorporate it into their maps program. It can alert you as you drive through towns depending on pre-entered things you are interested in. (ie. where the local gas station, shopping mall, movie theatre, Subway or Pizza Hut is....)
