Make cars with legs instead of wheels

get the front seats with rocket boosters like used to eject out of jet planes which can safely throw a driver out of the car instead of taking a hit with airbags

Introduce technology to cars that can detect a heavy crash. This technology would immediately notify the emergency services of your position

Introduce technology that prohibits the use of a mobile phone in the car

In the UK many accidents are caused by "boy racers" - that is, young guys that have recently passed their test. A law could be introduced stating that any person who causes an accident within, say two years, of passing their test is disqualified. Or - slightly less harsh - a "name and shame" type policy could be introduced where anyone who causes an accident has their car labelled in some way.

Create an eye sensor that triggers an alarm whenever a driver takes their eyes off the road ahead. This could also function as an alarm for when a driver falls asleep.

i think we should go back to the old time way of making cars. about 20 years ago we did not have so much death on the road. the material in which cars were built of before was very strong and could with stand alot of force. now the make car with a very inferior material one touch and it dents in. that also make the car light and causes people to speed.

reduce the amount of vehicles overall by offering large incentives to those who use carpooling and public transport for access to highways between major centres, make an effort to reduce the costs of rental cars and taxis so that owning a car is not a necessity

When you get a driving licence you could take a vow: "If I am caught speeding I will pay £5000 fine" (or some other "extortionate" amount). Insurance companies could offer cheaper insurance to people who've taken the vow.

What price range would be ideal for the device? Decent GPS navigation systems are now available for less than $200.

Could people be able to wear a bracelet that would be detected by an approaching car?

What distances would be required for proximity detection between vehicles? 10meters? 100meters?

Why not make car immobilizers remote control so that police could deactivate without high speed pursuit.

Why not cap the speed limit on cars to 120KM? It can easily be done cheap.
